YAHs Outing to Roscommon

Una Gleeson has organised a great outing for the YAHs to Roscommon on May 16th next and everyone is looking forward to the day (and night) out.

Don’t forget that the YAHs are playing on the Bomore course now.

Junior Girls’ Connacht Alliance

The first Connacht Alliance for Junior girls, held in Roscommon, was won by Niamh Cronin with a fantastic score of 43 points.  She lost three shots off her handicap.  Keep it up Niamh.

The next Junior alliance will be held in Bomore on June 20th next.

Our Girls on Top of Their Form

The May Fitzgibbon competition held in Roscommon  Golf Club for the young girls was won by Megan O’Hara and her partner Aisling Hills. Emma McTiernan and Helen McDonagh came third in the competition and the Gross was won by Holly Robinson and Shauna Brady.  Well done girls!

Royal Wedding Coffee Morning

Ladies, I hope you are all getting ready for the royal wedding coffee morning.  It is taking place in the clubhouse tomorrow morning from 10 a. m. and proceeds are for the Cancer Care centre in Sligo.

In aid of a good cause, it  looks like being a fun morning, fashion, discussion about (or criticism of) THE  DRESS, coffee, friends and interest on screen and off.

Come on ladies, get your manicure done,  put on your face and sally forth to the golf club in Rosses Point tomorrow at ten.

‘Adoptive Mothers’ Wanted!

Ladies, the popular Mothers and Bunnies event is to be played in Bomore on Sunday, April 17th at 2.30 p. m. over 9 holes.  Carmel Sproule is the organiser and tells me that there is a shortage of mothers for the juniors who wish to play.  It would be brilliant if every youngster, (they’re all under 14) had even a pretend mum to play with them. Would anyone who has a couple of hours to spare on the day, (it’s the Sunday before Easter) please consider playing and if so can they contact Carmel Sproule McGrath and let her know.  I’m looking forward to it already.

A Little Girl for Sarah

Congratulations to Sarah Dufficy and Patrick on the recent birth of their little daughter, Julianna.

We extend our good wishes to all the Dufficy and Gormley families on this happy event.

Lady Pro Golfers in Ireland 2011 for Solheim Cup

The Solheim Cup is being played in Ireland in September.  This is the “Ryder Cup” of Ladies’ golf and it is anticipated that all of us women will want to attend.  The ILGU would encourage each club to appoint an “Ambassador” to promote the event. I’m not sure that there is one appointed here in Rosses Point so far.

The competition will be played between September 23rd and 25th.  It should be a great spectacle and perhaps  groups of members might like to  attend.  I hear that there will be season tickets available for the full event costing  one hundred and fifty euros.

The Next Generation

Congratulations to Donal and Marie Heraughty on the birth of a beautiful grandson.

The Pride of the Point

Mary Kennedy has been asked by the Ladies’ Golfing Union, [L.G.U.]  to act as Rules Official for the British Open Strokeplay Championship.  This Ladies’ Amateur  Championship will be played in August at Royal Ashdown Forest Golf Club in Sussex.

We in Co Sligo are lucky to have such a knowledgeable lady in our midst.  She does the Club proud.
